The newly announced Apple Watch isn’t waterproof. It is water-resistant, which means it will work in the rain, though it can’t be exposed to a ton of water, so even the heavy rain could damage it.

Yeah, just like you, we’re wondering why Cook & Co. haven’t found a way to solve this, but I guess this is still a new thing for them.

The good news is that there will be a way to make your Apple Watch really waterproof, compliments of Liquipel. This, as far as I’ve understood, would allow you to swim with the watch and perhaps even dive a bit. We can’t claim a thing, but we can share the words of Liquipel’s co-founder Danny McPhail. Here’s what he had to say:

With the emergence of wearable tech like the Apple Watch, the need for a water repellent coating is greater than ever as these devices will be in constant danger of coming in contact with liquids and humidity. Liquipel is excited to offer our Watersafe nano-coating to customers who are seeking that extra level of protection to help save their wearable tech from unexpected encounters with liquids. Be on the lookout for our wearable technology treatment option on our site in the coming months so you can protect your new Apple Watch!

For those who missed it, Liquipel uses nano-coating to make just about every phone waterproof. Yes, this includes the all-new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. So if you wanted to make sure your new Apple gadgets keep working even after being accidentally dropped into a toilet, perhaps now’s the time to call these guys…
