You may not be very familiar with Chinese manufacturer Oppo, but you should be. The company announced today the Oppo R5, billed as the ‘world’s slimmest smartphone’ the R5 will be available globally in December for $500 off-contract. Coming in with a thickness of 4.85mm, the R5 is just a pinch thinner than Gionee’s Elife S5.1.
The Oppo R5 touts a 5.2 inch full HD AMOLED screen, a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 SoC, 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, a 2,000mAh battery and a 13MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing selfie snapper.The smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and utilizes Oppo’s Color OS 2.0 UI. A 3.5mm headphone jack is mysteriously absent, forcing users to use an included microUSB adaptor or Bluetooth if they want to rock out.
The Oppo R5 will come in silver, gold and grey colors when it launches globally in December.
