As far as I’m concerned, Evernote is the best note taking service out there that also allows users to share their notes with others, if they fancy so.
There are multiple ways to share a note from Evernote – you can email a snapshot of the note, share a link of the note, share entire notebooks with one or many individuals, and even make a whole notebook publicly available or available to the entire company, if you’re using Evernote Business.
Evernote Premium subscribers — those who pay $50 per year or $5 per month — can also give other Evernote users permission to edit the notes in their Shared Notebooks. This is probably the number 1 reason to pay for the premium service.
These Shared Notebooks can be created from almost any device or computer where Evernote is installed, including Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android.
Here’s how to share notebooks in Windows:
- Right-click the notebook you want to share in the Notebook List
- Click “Share Notebook” and then “Invite Individuals”
- Enter the email addresses of the people you want to share with
- Select the permission level you want to grant to the list of users
- Click “Invite”
And here’s how to do this on a Mac:
- In the Sidebar, click “Notebooks” to open the Notebook List
- Hover your mouse cursor over the notebook you want to share, then click the share icon
- In the “Share this notebook” dialog, click “Invite Individuals”
- Enter the email addresses of the people you want to share with
- Select the permission level
- Click “Invite”
And, you’re done.
Users that you’re sharing notebooks with will receive a notification email with a link to view your Shared Notebook, clicking on which they’ll be able to join the fun. 😉
