Our European readers certainly know that not many things in life beat watching a great football (soccer for our U.S. readers) match in a good company and with lots of booze involved. Moreover, it is a common practice to gather with friends in some bar and yell with the rest of the public when your club scores. The mentioned atmosphere seems to have been the main inspiration behind Drinksin’s application called Footy Pubs 2010, which is made to help folks find a pub to watch a World Cup game.
The app takes advantage of the phone’s built-in location capabilities, allowing you to find nearby pubs that show World Cup matches that day. There’s also the “Plan” mode from where you can pick your city/town, select the match you want to watch and then browse through the list of pubs. Once you pick a pub, you can get directions to it, which can come pretty handy. Actually, you may need directions back to home once the game ends, if you know what I mean. 🙂
Anyway, Footy Pubs 2010 will definitely be popular in Europe where the World Cup is a big deal. Hence, Drinksin decided to launch both the iPhone and version for (select) Nokia smartphones. You can grab the application from an appropriate link below — depending on the device you have.
