Image showing Palm Pre Plus for AT&TFor those of you out there that aren’t really keen on the Android superphones already on or coming to market in the near future – not to mention the new iPhone 4 dropping next week – your best alternative right now might be the Palm Pre Plus from AT&T or Verizon. Powered by the webOS, which is the biggest competitor to the iOS in terms of intuitiveness and visual appeal, the Palm Pre Plus is definitely a smartphone worth considering. And, for the rest of this month, Amazon is making it even harder to not consider the AT&T Palm Pre Plus – they’re offering the QWERTY slider phone for just one penny and free activation through the month of June!

For those of you not yet familiar, the Palm Pre Plus was the closest thing the smartphone world had to an iPhone killer. Sure, Android is making big advances in the mobile space, but the webOS is really the iPhone’s most dangerous competitor.

The Palm smartphone comes loaded with upgraded storage compared to the original Sprint Palm Pre. With 16 GB of storage memory, 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen (with multitouch support), vertically-sliding full QWERTY keyboard, 3-megapixel camera, WiFi, GPS, 3G data connectivity and the potential genius that is the multi-tasking webOS, it’s clear that this is a serious smartphone.

Unfortunately, the Mobile Hotspot feature that Verizon enables for free to Pre Plus customers looking to turn their handset into a portable WiFi router goes unsurprisingly unmentioned on AT&T’s product page.
