As if it isn’t fair enough that the Nexus One was first to become graced with Android’s newest version of its operating system, an even newer version has just been leaked online. Android 2.2, or Froyo, just got the FRF72 build (the version leaked a few weeks ago was the FRF50 build) leaked out to the masses – or at least the masses who own Nexus Ones and who can take advantage of this leak. Note that this is the same version that was given to Google employees just a week ago.
As always, though, install and upgrade at your own risk. Also, after installing Android 2.2 FRF72, one user says that the reboot took almost an eternity – 3 minutes! So if you’re planning on taking a crack at this yourself, I wouldn’t worry about the lengthy reboot time unless you’re 10 minutes in and nothing has happened. That means you probably did something wrong and bricked your phone and your life is over! Seriously, I’ll have to reiterate the chance of risk when you’re doing something unofficial like this, so just be careful or be patient and wait (ha! yeah, right).
Since Froyo has been hacked and worked into the Motorola Droid, can anyone out there give us the latest version for that handset, too? Please? Thanks.
