According to a screenshot from their internal network, T-Mobile will be rolling out an Android 1.6 update to Samsung Behold II owners over the air between June 21 and June 25. The new features, as noted in the forums, are:
- Access to Google Maps Navigation
- Google Voice Search capability
- Quick search box for Android
- Swype keyboard
- Media player improvements
- Updated core Android applications
- Improved Bluetooth capabilities
- Additional usability updates/fixes
Swype and Google Navigation are both pretty sweet, but 1.6 is still a relatively small and old upgrade – it’s confusing why it has taken so long. This will be the last software update the Behold II gets from T-Mobile, as they’ve said outright that Android 2.0 isn’t going to happen.
The Behold II launched with Android 1.5, and packs Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash, and a 3.2″ AMOLED 480 x 320 capacitive touchscreen. Take a looksee at our hands-on video and impressions of the Behold II for a closer look.
Owners should be notified on their device when the 1.6 update is available, so sit tight.
