Australia’s Optus announced the upcoming launch of the Samsung Galaxy S. The country’s second largest mobile operator will start selling the Android-powered device starting July 1st, when interested user will be able to grab it for free on a two-year ‘yes’ plan which starts at $59 per month.
Samsung’s baby joins Optus’ existing Android portfolio that includes Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, Motorola Quench, Motorola Dext and Garmin-Asus A10.
As you probably already know, the Galaxy S is one of most desired smartphones on the market today. Its features include a 4-inch Super AMOLED WVGA (480×800 pixels) touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera that can record HD video clips, HSPA and WiFi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, 8 or 16 GB of internal memory that’s further expandable with microSD cards. Moreover, Samsung installs its widget-friendly TouchWIZ user interface on top of Android OS, allowing users to quickly access key functions and popular social networks from the phone’s homescreen.
