AT&T teams up with Apriva to enable small businesses to accept credit and debit card payments while on the go

AT&T is teaming up with wireless payment company Apriva to launch new mobile payment applications for small businesses, AprivaPay and AprivaPay Professional, allowing them [small businesses] to accept credit and debit cards while on the go.

As you may know, the mobile payments market has a bright future with Generator Research forecasting it will grow from $68 billion in 2009 to more than $600 billion by 2014, at a CAGR of more than 50% over the next five years. No wonder, AT&T wants to tap such a market…

I’ve mentioned there are two kinds of apps available. The “regular” AprivaPay is not actually an application, but a browser-based service, while AprivaPay Professional is a full featured app for Windows Mobile (I guess support for other platforms will be unveiled in due course). AprivaPay is sold as a service for $14.95 a month, while the Professional version could be yours for 5 bucks more per month. In addition to working as a native app, it can also be integrated with an optional card reader and a receipt printer… Additional details are available from this page on AT&T’s website.
