Remember that Limited Edition Team Canada BlackBerry Bold 9700 I told you about some time ago? The device was put together by RIM to help celebrate Canada’s success at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics, however, only 20 of these beauties were put together.
If I recall correctly, FutureShop ran a promo (for their sales staff only) featuring said Team Canada Bold 9700. Based on sales numbers, FutureShop staffers could get their hands on one of these bad boys, if they made the top 20 in BlackBerry hardware sales for a particular period. For some reason, I have to think the device up for grabs on eBay originated from FutureShop… in fact, a quote from the actual auction page confirms it:
The phone is brand new and Unlocked so you can pop in any SIM card from any provider. It was won in a contest for a company I no longer work for. This auction includes the custom made Team Canada wallpaper for the phone as well as an Ironman wallpaper. As shown in the pictures the phone includes the Gold bezel kit for showing off Team Canada Gold Medal pride, or converting the phone into an Ironman edition. Phone comes with the Otterbox screen protector pre-installed and a 2GB MicroSD Card. It is not officially licensed product however it was developed by ColorWare and was billed as the “Limited Edition Canadian Men’s Hockey Team BlackBerry Bold 9700 Smartphone”.
