It looks like the Verizon Motorola Droid X fun is just beginning. We had a glimpse of what was to come two days ago, with the new Droid X ad, now there’s even more to see, now that the device is among us.
When you go to the DroidDoes site, click the Motorola Droid X, and you’ll be shown a video that’s very similar to the ad we saw just two days ago. The ending is different, with someone reaching their hand into the “alien rock matter” only to have his entire arm turn into that of a robot, with a Droid X coming out of the arm and into his hand. It’s actually pretty damn cool if you ask me, and as far as marketing goes, it’s much more compelling than the iPhone 4 video chat ads.
When looking around the site, at the bottom of the video you’ll see a text field that asks you to put in a secret code. Thanks to Jared tipping off Droid-Life, the code to input is: JXYDA QWQYD. Put that into the text field, and you’ll be presented with a secret page that will not only congratulate you for being a superior human, but will tell you to check back every so often for updates. What this could mean is beyond me, but this is certainly more interesting than any other smartphone campaign I’ve ever seen. I thought the scavenger hunt was something to impressed by, but this is getting more interesting by the day.
For some reason I want to say that the Motorola Droid X will not receive the same marketing push that the original Droid did. The Droid X isn’t taking over the NASDAQ sign in New York City as the original did, and so far I have yet to even see an X ad on TV. But, from the few ads we have seen, it looks like the focus is on ad delivery, making the ads more cinematic, and they’re doing a good job. They didn’t even need Sam Mendes.
Check out the new ad below!
