Vodafone’s Nexus One getting the Froyo update next week

Good news for those of you who grabbed the Nexus One from Vodafone. The Big Red carrier (in partnership with HTC and Google, I guess) will be rolling-out the Froyo (Android 2.2) update to its customers starting next week. Not all phones and markets will be getting the “hot stuff” at the same time, but I’m guessing the whole thing will be over within the next couple of weeks.

As we’re talking about a European version of the device here, things like Amazon MP3 store and Google Goggles don’t come included in the new ROM. If you still need those, you’ll have to download them separately from the Android Market.

In case you don’t need all those U.S.-specific apps, the minute Vodafone announces you can update, go for it. Make sure to backup your data first, before experiencing that super-fast JavaScript.

On the other hand, you may be well running Ubuntu on your Nexus One, so there’s no need to update at all. 😉
