It all started with this article at Information Week that said Nokia would be attending the Web 2.0 Summit. Low and behold I went to the Web 2.0 Summit homepage and there it is, Nokia’s logo in the top right hand corner being labeled as a platinum sponsor. They poured more money into the Web 2.0 Summit than either Microsoft, Adobe or Sun. This has got to be big I’m thinking, but who exactly is going to be speaking at this event? I pinged Rafe from All About Symbian over Skype to help me piece this together and we quickly discovered it was none other than Anssi Vanjoki, speaking on Wednesday October 17, 2007 at 16:00. Would Nokia be telling the Valley the same story it told us at the London at the Go Play event? As a platinum sponsor I doubt it. Some more clicking around and I quickly discovered that Nokia will be holding a party, here is the caption:
Nokia will also be hosting a stylish party in the adjacent Twin Peaks room, which will showcase their next generation of Web 2.0 offerings, launched earlier that afternoon.
Bingo. Caught red handed. What could it be? I have absolutely no clue. Remember however, the 17th is one day before Q3 earnings are to be published. Showing something fantastic in the Valley could get investors all giddy and we might see the stock price go up a little more than it usually would.
