BlackBerry Torch 9800 Coming to UK Through Vodafone

The U.S. and Canada aren’t the only ones getting RIM’s latest little bundle of techno-joy. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is coming to Vodafone UK sometime soon, and boasts a feature we hadn’t heard much about elsewhere: a “zero shutter” camera. That apparently means there’s no lag between hitting the key and taking a picture, which is huge for when you’re taking spur-of-the-moment shots. The 5 megapixel camera is also RIM’s first to reach that high; I’m looking forward to see if the quality matches the pixel count.

As for the other specs, we’ve seen ’em all: 624 MHz processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of on-board storage, the lovely new BlackBerry 6 operating system, 3.2″ HVGA touchscreen, Wi-Fi b/g/n with wireless music sync, GPS with new APIs for reverse geocoding and Wi-Fi geolocation, and 3G on bands compatible with AT&T and service providers worldwide.

Vodafone’s not saying much about price point or release dates, but you can sign on for e-mail updates over here. The BlackBerry 9800 is a big deal for RIM – check out out pre-announcement analysis to see why.
