If the handful of root methods for various Android phones we’ve seen before isn’t enough for you, we’ve got another one for you that should make rooting your Motorola Droid (with Froyo), Droid X, or Milestone as easy as downloading an app and pressing a button. Easy Root is another one-click app that requires no knowledge of hacking.
So if you’ve manually installed Froyo on your Motorola Droid or you have a Droid X or Milestone in hand, you can easy get root access by simply download an Android app. I’m honestly getting a little tired of all these methods floating around, but it’s good to see more user-friendly root options like these becoming available. Easy Root doesn’t need to be connected to a computer, just click a button and done. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of the newer rooting methods that require computers aren’t as hard as they used to be at all, but apps like this may make rooting a little more appealing for those who want to see what it’s all about, but aren’t tech savvy enough to dive into the SDK.
The app is about a buck in the Android Market. Once downloaded and installed, you open the app hit Root Me, and if successful you’ll get the screen above. Oddly enough, during the time I was writing this post, the application disappeared from the Android Market. I search for it, found it, left the Market, returned, searched again, and no go. This has been confirmed from other devices I have. So you may need to wait it out to see if the app returns, let’s hope it does. It’s kind of odd to see this pulled, as rooting is now legal. What gives?
We’re not sure if the app was pulled by the developer, or Google themselves, but it certainly puts a damper on this easy method for the Droid users who wanted some root apps on their recently updated Motorola Android phone. Still, it’s cool to know there are a handful of different ways to get root. For now, Droid users, just revel in the fact that you have Froyo when most of the nation does not.
