Gesture Search for Android is a useful tool to search through your entire phone just by drawing on the screen, and it’s just become even easier to use. The Gesture Search application has just been updated with a new feature, called Double Flip.
Double Flip is used to launch the Gesture Search application from where ever you are on the phone with a flip. All you do is flip the phone face down, and bring it back up to launch the application. I enabled the Double Flip, changed the setting to “easy to trigger”, and went into another application to test it out. I’d successfully made it work a few times, but other times I’d “Double Flip”, and the Gesture Search app would crash. Also, the feature didn’t work until I killed all of my running applications and relaunched Gesture Search. Not sure why, but I did find that one odd. The app now launches every time I flip the phone to activate it.
Despite any potential bugs, it’s nice to see Google adding features to their apps, even if they are as simple as Double Flip. We’re all too aware of some products that Google releases that just sort of work, and really don’t have a place in this world, cough, Buzz, cough. Thankfully, that’s not always the case. If only all other Google apps would be updated as frequently as the Maps application for Android, then we’d see a nice pace of updates.
If you want to give it a try, Gesture Search is available in the Android Market, and since it’s from Google, expect it to be free. Now if Google could please updated their Finance application, it’d be much appreciated.
