British BlackBerry fans who aren’t fond of the Torch 9800 headed their way, but want something higher-end than the Curve 3G 9300 may be interested to hear that the refreshed BlackBerry Bold R020 (9780) is coming to Vodafone UK according to internal stock files. I’m still a bit confused about the R020 designation we had seen earlier since the About screen clearly shows it as the 9780, but I guess we’ll see what they actually launch the thing as.
Due on AT&T in October, the 9780 will have more or less the same specs as the BlackBerry 9700: 2.4″ HVGA display, 1500 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G, and a 624 MHz processor. The primary upgrades will be a 5 megapixel camera and 512 MB of RAM, which will have to be pretty big selling points if you’re looking at an upgrade, since the 9700 will be getting OS 6 just the same, and will probably be a spot cheaper once the 9780 comes out.
