It was not Nokia, but a banner I spotted on the Interwebs informing me that the Finnish company’s flagship smartphone is now available for pre-ordering in the U.S. The price is $549 and the availability is set at “end of September 2010.” In addition to the phone itself, battery and all the cables (HDMI out, included), inside the box you also get the Nokia Stereo Headset WH-701.
As you can figure out from our previous “N8 preordering posts,” this time Americans aren’t getting a better deal than Europeans. The price is pretty much the same all around the world. China may be one exception, where Nokia is bundling the N8 with accessories, asking for more money in upfront.
As you know, the N8 comes with a 12-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics that can take HD video, HSPA and WiFi connectivity, 3.5-inch nHD (640×360 pixels) capacitive touchscreen, GPS receiver with free lifetime navigation (Ovi Maps), 3.5 mm AV connector, Bluetooth 3.0, microSD memory card slot and so on.
