Those waiting for Mozilla’s mobile browser on Android can now get downloading! Firefox Mobile, currently code-named Fennec, is available for Android, and updated for the Nokia N900. Some of the key features that might make you want this one over the already-excellent native Android browser is synchronization of history and bookmarks with desktop Firefox, add-on support, and the legendary Awesome Bar, which finds your website without having to launch into a Google search. Pinch to zoom is included, integration with multiple search engines lets you find a variety of information quickly, and a new contextual long-press menu helps you share pages easily.

Most of us have at least tried Firefox at some point, and its excellence as a desktop browser is largely undisputed. If they can bring to bear that same expertise to mobile, then the current leader in third-party mobile browsers, Opera, may have trouble keeping its lead.  The desktop sync is a killer feature, and the add-on support which made Firefox such a huge success in the first place can potentially change our standards for mobile browsing overall.

Head over to Mozilla’s download page from your mobile browser to get started with Fennec – just keep in mind that only Android 2.0 and up is compatible.
