Livewire Mobile unveiled Mediadrome, a new online and mobile service that allows artists and record labels to sell digital media including full-track music, ringtones, graphics and videos — along with the physical merchandise — to their fans. In addition, Livewire envisions its clients selling not only traditional digital music, but also rare tracks, live archives and offer the next-day sale of live recordings. Fans on their end will be able to browse a “large and comprehensive body of work” of their favorite star.
Right from the bat Livewire has a first client – Guided By Voices, which is launching a Mediadrome-powered service in conjunction with their upcoming reunion tour kicking off later this year. The new storefront is expected to feature the group’s catalog, rare tracks and previously unavailable material as well as live tracks. Moreover, it is expected to also offer Guided By Voices fans the chance to purchase tracks from the reunion tour performances, including next-day availability…
