Symbian Gets Swype Beta for Easier Text Input

You either love Swype, or you hate it. It doesn’t seem like there is much of a gray area with the text-entry application that lets you swipe your finger across letters instead of typing them out, one by one. The software then predicts words, with some great accuracy, or gives options of adding or learning new words. Today, both Nokia and Swype have announced that Swype beta is now available for S60 5th Edition touchscreen smartphones.

For now, Swype beta is only available on the Nokia N97, N97mini, X6, 5800, and 5230. However, Nokia and Swype say that the software will start to expand to other handsets over the coming months, so don’t fret if your handset isn’t supported at launch.

If you’re unfamiliar with Swype, check out the video below for a demo.
