After the private beta launch, Nokia is pushing the Ovi Browser to every Series 40 feature phone owner out there. The Finnish giant’s main target are emerging markets of the world, though the application will work on most Nokia phones sold all around the globe.
Among Nokia devices supported, we find 2700 Classic, 2730 Classic, 3120 Classic, 3600 Slide, 5130 XpressMusic, 5220 Xpressmusic, 5310 XpressMusic, 5330 Mobile TV Edition, 5330 Xpressmusic, 5610, 6300i, 6303, 6500 Slide, 6500 Classic, 6600 Slide, 6700 Classic, 7210 Supernova, 7900 Prism and X3.
As you may know from our previous post on Ovi Browser, it works pretty much like Opera Mini, compressing and optimizing HTML code so users save on mobile data costs. Unsurprisingly, most users come from India, followed by Indonesia and Vietnam — all of which are places where Nokia pretty much dominates the market.
The commercial release is set for early next year, and Nokia promised to introduce more improvements along the way. Moreover, Ovi Browser will be pre-installed on many Nokia Series 40 phones beginning in 2011.
