Gameloft Releases Dungeon Hunter II Trailer; Game Center Support Confirmed!

At this year’s E3, Gameloft revealed some of its upcoming titles for the iPhone & iPad. One of which was the sequel to one of my favorite games of 2009, Dungeon Hunter.  Gameloft recently released a brand-new trailer of Dungeon Hunter II that not only shows some sweet gameplay footage, but it also contains a surprise or two.

The first surprise is the game will feature online co-op through Gameloft Live, which isn’t much of a surprise seeing as how they already released that info during E3. The big surprise is Dungeon Hunter II will have full Game Center compatibility. That means achievements, leaderboards, and launching a co-op game with up to 2 people in your Game Center friends list. Dungeon Hunter II will also allow for local co-op gaming if you’re the kind of person who actually has friends come over your house on a Friday night.

Judging by the trailer, it looks like players will once again be able to choose three character classes for their dungeon crawling adventure: Warrior, Rogue, and Mage. This time, each character class can upgrade to another class.  Warrior can become a Berserker or Crusader, Rogue can become a Death Walker or Archer, and the Mage can become a Shadowmancer or Illusionist.  If you look close enough, you can catch some of these upgraded classes within in the trailer.

Dungeon Hunter II takes place 25 years after the events of Dungeon Hunter and its hack-n-slash action and controls look to be unchanged from the original, which is a good thing. The thing I loved about Dungeon Hunter was its Diablo style gameplay that didn’t over complicate things with too many abilities. It brought the core of what made Diablo so much fun, dungeon crawling and loot, and brought it to the iPhone & Android platforms.

As of now, no official price or release date has been given and it looks like the game is only coming out for the iPhone in the very near future, but judging by Gameloft’s previous track record, you can be sure this game will also hit the iPad & Android devices soon after.
