Good news, and bad news. The good news is that Telus Mobility launched a T-Mobile-esque unlimited-calling feature this past May. Like T-Mobile’s myFaves program, Telus’s Canadian users can choose up to 5 wireless numbers with which they are allowed unlimited voice minutes and unlimited SMS text messages. Now, the bad news is that Telus decided to use the likewise T-Mobile-esque “My Faves” branding for their new unlimited-calling feature.
As you might have guessed, T-Mobile took notice and proceeded to file a copyright infringement complaint. Sure, Telus’s “My Faves” isn’t exactly the same as T-Mo’s “myFaves” branding. But, with almost exactly the same service, we’re on T-Mo’s side on this one. Come one, Telus, don’t you pay people to do the creative thinking for you? And if you do, you might want to consider finding new help.
Still, at least Telus is bringing the popular unlimited calling feature to our Northern neighbors. Just use a different name, will ya?
