The New Yorker has introduced its very own iPad app with the help of actor Jason Schwartzman. It’s actually more of a day in the life of Jason Schwartzman, undoubtedly interesting and hilarious as the ad depicts, while he shows us the new features of the app.
The app itself will dish out an issue of the New Yorker every Monday, and it will cost $4.99 per issue – something that has been turning off potential users of the app as well as other publications which charge $3-5 an issue for their respective magazines. Would you pay the cost of a large latte for an issue of your favorite magazine?
You can view the app in landscape or portrait mode, select a number of different ways to browse content and even touch a cartoon to go straight to the cartoons section for that issue.
Whether you think you’ll enjoy the New Yorker app for the iPad or not, you will enjoy Schwartzman’s presentation. It’s just too bad that it probably won’t help increase subscriptions.
