Yesterday, the Associated Press announced two new ‘Super Apps’ for BlackBerry. The new apps are aimed at localizing news coverage by bringing region-specific content to specific areas of the world.
The first app is the AP Móvil América Latina app. It delivers news to 20 countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. To receive targeted news, users simply choose their region when opening the app, and everything else is automatic. Information can be delivered in Spanish or Portuguese as well.
The second app is the AP Mobile World Edition. Serving Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, the app functions very much the same as the Móvil América Latina app. Choose your region, and you’ll receive targetted news (and weather, forgot to mention weather is included in both of these) in a timely manner.
Being ‘Super Apps’ and all, these new entries are tightly integrated with your Berry’s OS, and use BlackBerry Push Service to serve you news throughout your day. While running in the background, these apps will receive updated content at 6 AM, 12 PM and 6 PM every day.
