Web discovery service StumbleUpon has just gone mobile with their first Android and iPhone apps. As you can expect, the applications allow you to rate pages, set stumble preferences and categories (like photos, YouTube, and news), all while keeping in sync with your existing StumbleUpon account. For those times you find some especially cool stuff, you can share content from your Android handset or iPhone via e-mail, Facebook, and Twitter.
For those who have never used StumbleUpon, it’s a like Digg crossed with Pandora. You set some basic criteria for the kind of web content you want to find, and with one click, you’re taken to a website that was highly-rated by other SU users. That being said, you can give pages a thumbs-up or thumbs-down to help out the prediction engine in nailing your tastes and contribute to the larger picture of stumbleable content.
This seems to me like a great way to kill a small amount of time – even the slightest bit of downtime can give you the opportunity to find something really cool online. Some StumbleUpon content is Flash-based, which might give the Android version an edge. Downlad links to both iPhone and Android StumbleUpon apps are below.
