LG Optimus S

Sprint stepped up to the plate and introduced a trio of Android handsets today at CTIA. We have already formally introduced the Sanyo Zio and the Samsung Transform. Now it is time to get acquainted with the LG Optimus S. Similar to the Zio, the Optimus S from LG is a slate-style Android handset with a solid set of standard specs including:

  • 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display
  • 3.2-megapixel camera
  • mobile hotspot
  • microSD slot (expandable up to32GB)
  • Sprint ID
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • Android 2.2

ALong with the Zio and the Transform, the Optimus S will appeal to the new Android user looking to transition to Android and jump into a simple, yet capable handset. Spring is also using this trio to launch its new Sprint ID, an add-on which allows users to customize their Android handset using pre-defined ID packs. Each ID pack includes applications, widgets, ringtones, and wallpapers.

The Optimus S will debut in charcoal grey starting on October 31st. Available in all Sprint retail channels, the Optimus S will set you back $49.99 with a two-year agreement and a $100 mail-in rebate. All the juicy details from the press release are located on the next page.
