MetroPCS and textPlus are teaming up to make it easier to send out mass text messages for free.

If you don’t know, textPlus offers apps which enable iPod, iPhone and other smartphone users to send and receive free text messages. MetroPCS already offers unlimited text messaging with its monthly unlimited plans, but the deal will help with getting group texting done quickly and efficiently.

To use this feature, send “!chat” to the textPlus 60611 short code and then enter in all the people you want to start a group conversation.

“Building strong relationships with the carriers, rather than simply piggybacking on them, has been important to our business model from the start – and this deal validates that strategy,” said Scott Lahman, CEO of GOGII, the creator of textPlus, in a prepared statement. “We’re thrilled to offer our product to MetroPCS customers and we look forward to an exciting roadmap of innovation with the carrier going forward.
