The fabled Project Emerald, which we have gotten wrong plenty of times, is finally on its way in the form of the new myTouch. We’re not sure if Magenta will add in HD or 4G to the name but it’s set to be a killer handset.

We can expect the device to ship with a modified version of the Sense UI similar to the MyTouch Slide and if you want to see what the new handset will truly have in store, you can now download the recently-leaked ROM.

This should be a nice field day for the hackers and modders alike, as they now have a ROM to work with to make custom ROMs or whatever else they may need it for. The handset isn’t set to launch for a couple of weeks, which means by the time the myTouch makes it into the hands of the devs/hackers, we may have a lot more functionality to give this bad boy. Of course, that’s assuming the myTouch isn’t locked down as much as the G2.

So, if you want to do some digging through the ROM to develop or mod, or you’re just curious, head on over to 911HTC and give it a go. The ROM is over 300MB – so you may need to dig around a bit to find what you’re looking for – but if you’ve seen one Android ROM before, you probably know where to go.

May the hacking commence!
