Socially is a new app for the recently launched Nokia N8 (I’m not sure it works on S60 5th Edition devices, too) that allows users to sync their Facebook friends’ profile pictures and birthdays with their phone Contacts list.
To get started, you’ll need to download the app, set it up and authorize your Facebook account. Next click on the “More” tab to sync photos. Word of caution – only those contacts who have exactly the same name on Facebook will be synced — a spelling difference will kill the feature. Similarly, you can also sync birthdays with your calendar, which is a more important feature in my book.
Finally, there’s an additional trick Socially can pull off – when a friend calls you, it will display not only his or her picture, but also the latest update from your his/her social network. Moreover, if you get a call from a number not in your Contacts list, the application will also attempt to give you a location and the network from which the call is being placed. Love it! 😉
