Just as we expected, Japanese NTT DoCoMo will start selling the Samsung Galaxy S (model SC-02B) this month. The date is set at October 28th, when interested folks will be able to grab the slightly customized version of Sammy’s popular smartphone from the country’s leading mobile operator.

Speaking of customizations, we know the device will support DoCoMo’s sp-mode and an e-book distribution service, which goes on trial from the same day. Moreover, users will be able to access both the Android Market and DoCoMo Market to download apps and games.

Rest of the features (when compared to the original Galaxy S model) remain unchanged, and include a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera with 720p HD video recording capability, HSPA and WiFi (802.11n) connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, some amount of built-in storage that is further expandable with microSD cards.

Price was not unveiled, but considering just how tough Japan’s mobile phone market is, I’m sure our readers from the Land of the rising Sun will be able to get it for free the moment they agree to put their signature on a two-year contract…
