Telus is prepping their holiday answer to Rogers’ Captivate, according to this leaked screenshot of an internal sales portal: the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate. It’s more or less the same thing as the Captivate, as it’s packing 4″ Super AMOLED display, 5 megapixel camera, 1 GHz processor, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3G, but the Telus Fascinate is being specifically branded as 3G+. That’s a little weird if Telus is getting the CDMA version, since the 3G+ branding is generally indicative of their newer HSPA+ network, so maybe it’s just some inflated marketing-speak.
As it stands, Telus’ big-name Android phone is the HTC Desire, which could still sit comfortably next to the Samsung Fascinate and keep a straight face. Bell already has a Galaxy S phone out, the Vibrant, though that’s really just an older European model, not what was released in the U.S. In any case, once Rogers and Telus release their Samsung Android handsets, all three carriers will be offering a Galaxy S, much like the wide spread the family is enjoying in the U.S.
There aren’t any specifics about a release date or pricing, but it’s probably a safe bet to expect this to land sometime before the holidays. If you’re thinking of picking up the Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate on Telus at some point, check out our impressions of the Verizon model.
