We’ve missed this story when it was “hot,” but it’s still important so we’re going with it nonetheless.

Vodafone New Zealand sells the HTC 7 Trophy, while Australia’s Telstra got the HTC 7 Mozart. The importance of the news comes from the fact that Australia and New Zealand were the first places in the world to start selling Windows Phone 7 devices. Nothing too exclusive here – only the timezone differences.

As you may know from our previous posts, the Mozart and Trophy are pretty similar devices, both rocking a 1GHz processors, big screens, HSPA and WiFi connectivity, along with a solid amount of built-in storage. Vodafone is offering the Trophy for 799 NZD ($602) on a contract (899 NZD on prepay), while Telstra asks for no money upfront for the Mozart as long as you commit on a $49 a month two-year contract.

Finally, in addition to the HTC 7 Mozart, Telstra will also get another Windows-powered smartphone – the QWERTY keyboard equipped LG Optimus 7Q.
