KDDI offers Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372 as a rental service for Japanese traveling overseas

Japan’s KDDI has a neat service for its customers travelling overseas. The country’s second-largest operator is offering the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372 as a rental service so that interested folks can access Internet wherever they happen to go/be.

The MiFi 2372 is available for 1,280 JPY ($15.7) per day and the service can be ordered from KDDI’s website.

As you may know from our previous posts, the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2372 is touted as the first Intelligent Mobile Hotspot, a new category of mobile broadband that lets users put their world of content, services and connectivity in the palm of their hand. The MiFi platform creates a personal cloud of Internet connectivity that can be shared between multiple users and up to five Wi-Fi devices such as laptops, cameras, gaming devices, tablets and multimedia players. Supported bands include 800/850, 1900 and 2100 MHz for global roaming services.

In terms of the speeds supported, the MiFi 2372 can download files at speeds that are up to 7.2Mbps. In addition, the device also rocks a microSD expansion slot that works with memory cards of up to 32 GB…
