The Nokia N900 got a new firmware update – PR 1.3 (v20.2010.36-2). Available through Nokia Software Updater and over the air (OTA), the new firmware paves way for the upcoming transition to MeeGo OS (from the existing Maemo). Included in this release is the Qt 4.7 development framework and Qt Mobility 1.02, allowing developers to start making MeeGo-compatible apps on current hardware (until the first real MeeGo devices are release at some point next year).
Of course there are the usual performance and stability fixes included, but that’s not the big news as I’m sure you can tell.
Prior to hitting any “Update” buttons, we advise you to backup all your data on a computer. The software will/may kill your precious contacts and other PIM information and that’s something you don’t want to see happening. Once that is set — and you also see that the new firmware is available where you live — proceed with the update. Good luck! 😉
