Remember that big-ish BlackBerry Storm 3 we saw awhile back with a trackpad? It’s not the refreshed BlackBerry Storm 9570 that was going to be a small incremental upgrade and supposedly launch with OS 6, but rather another touchscreen smartphone after that. Some undocumented specifications have surfaced for our consideration.

A fixed-focus camera seems weird, and I don’t see RIM making the jump from 5 megapixel cameras to 8 so soon, but we had heard elsewhere that the next Storm would have 8 GB of storage, a 1 GHz and 1 GB of RAM. The screen size matches what we heard when the above image was leaked, but a switch to AMOLED would be a pretty big deal for RIM, who has stuck with LCD for a good long time. We also haven’t heard anything about the operating system, but I have my fingers crossed that this is the first phone that RIM puts QNX’s Neutrino operating system onto after the PlayBook tablet.
We’re still unsure of the status of the BlackBerry 9570, which was supposedly canceled, but it still showing up in Verizon’s inventory. If RIM does eventually pump out the 9570, odds are we won’t be seeing the Storm 3 for a while still.
There’s no real proof behind any of these specs, but they’ve been compiled across multiple sources apparently. Still, take it all with due skepticism.
