A whole whackload of Rogers info leaked today, including pricing on upcoming devices like the BlackBerry Bold 9780, Nokia N8, Samsung Focus, and Dell Streak, along with some new data sharing plans particularly applicable to the Samsung Galaxy Tab. There are a lot of slides, but here’s the short version:
- BlackBerry Bold 9780: $149.99 on contract
- Nokia N8: $79.99 on contract
- Samsung Focus: $199.99 on contract
- Dell Streak: $149.99 on contract
- $55, $65, and $70 shareable voice/data bundles
- $30, $45 and $60 shareable data plans
- $16.96 and $21.96 to share to secondary devices
We can’t say too much about the timeline, but Nokia N8 and BlackBerry 9780 dummies are already landing at retail locations. Oddly enough, there was no mention of the Palm Pre 2. Maybe we won’t see it until the new year? Rogers called dibs on the Samsung Focus back at launch, and they’ve been hinting at the Streak for the last little while, so it’s not much of a surprise seeing them on the roadmap. I can only hope that the Streak launches on Rogers with Android 2.2, but that may be hoping for too much. The other, proper Android tablet coming to Rogers gets a nod, but no pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Tab is given. It’s tentatively rumoured to be in the $199.99 on-contract range. That seems kind of unlikely considering T-Mobile is selling it for $399, which is a pretty steep difference even if there’s one less year on the contract.
As for the sharing plans, I really don’t leave my desk often enough to merit paying any more for my mobile data, but there are times I wish I could put a bigger dent into the promotional 6 GB plan I snagged two years ago. No doubt there will be people who want to share their data to a tablet like the iPad or Galaxy Tab without having to get an entirely separate plan.
