Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 powered by super-secret version of Windows Mobile

That would explain why the Sony Ericsson reps were so guarded about the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1. All we wanted to do was touch the darn thing, but that would have probably ended in getting a stern reprimand from the ever watchful eyes of the Sony Ericsson booth overlords.Remember that quick video we posted on the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1? Right, well you may have noticed the spiffy user interface that looked nothing like any Windows Mobile platform we’ve seen. And, it seems that there’s reason to that rhyme.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 to run Windows Mobile 6.5?

Word has it that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 will be running a more advanced (read: future) version of Windows Mobile – namely, Windows Mobile 6.5 It ain’t Windows Mobile 6.1 but it’s not quite Windows Mobile 7.0. It’s something of a stop-gap OS that should include some fancy unannounced features for the WinMo set. That would explain why we risked dismemberment had we dared lay a finger on the XPERIA X1.With GPS, HSDPA, 3.2 megapixel camera, WVGA touchscreen display, and that beautiful HTC-sourced sliding QWERTY keyboard, we would have been happy with a tweaked Windows Mobile 6.1 OS. But, if the XPERIA X1 does indeed come packing some new-fangled features, we’re going to have a hard time waiting for this thing to hit production.[Via: SEfanatics]
