Schmidt’s flashing the upcoming Samsung Nexus S like it ain’t no thang, and today another short glimpse has been stolen of the upcoming handset. This picture was snagged on Picasa, and I.D.’d thanks to the “GT-i9020” model name found in the EXIF data of the image. The picture doesn’t show us much of anything, andreally pales in comparison to some other pictures we’ve seen. Still, it shows that it’s out in the wild being tested, at least.
We know that it has a curved screen, comes with NFC functions bundled in Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Wi-Fi b/g/n, a 5 megapixel camera, and supports the AWS bands needed for T-Mobile 3G. The screen looks like it’s in the 4-inch neighbourhood, but nobody’s taken a ruler to it quite yet.
The NFC thing is definitely cool, but until the Samsung Nexus S gets a proper announcement with some additional features, it’s hard not to lump it in with all of the other samey Galaxy S phones. Gingerbread, on the other hand, has a lot of promise, especially for tablets; hopefully it’ll be available as an upgrade to some existing devices when it launches on the Nexus S.
