O2 in the UK has a nice deal on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, offering the Android-powered smartphone for free on two-year long 10 GBP a month contract. In other words, 240 GBP will not only buy you Sony Ericsson’s mid-range device, but also get you some minutes along the way. In other words, this is probably the perfect package for first-time smartphone buyers.
The problem is that the 10 GBP a month plan includes only 50 calling minutes per month, which is like nothing and more likely than not, you’ll be paying much more every month (except in the case you rely on VoIP services extensively). Still, it’s a nice offer and one which we don’t see that often.
In addition to Sony Ericsson’s baby, the carrier is also offering two other devices for free along with the same 10 GBP/month plan – Samsung Pixon and Nokia C5.
