A good thing can happen when government intervenes. Take roaming in Europe for instance. Before European Commission interfered, customers were paying hefty prices for calls and messages when travelling to another country. Market forces are not as efficient in an environment with 3-5 players holding a majority of the market.
That said, we’re glad to report Vodafone is going one step forward, providing its subscribers with affordable data roaming services.
The carrier’s add-on service is called Data Traveller and only “on a contract” subscribers need to sign-up for the service — either before travelling or upon arriving to their destination. Those on pay as you go plans should be on Data Traveller automatically.
You care about the price – so here it comes. 2 GBP buys you 25MB of mobile data, while 10 GBP gives you 25MB every day! In a word – awesome… and way cheaper than what other UK operators are offering at the moment (though I’ve no doubts that will change soon).
In terms of countries supported with this deal, there are France, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Spain, while some other countries only have a 5MB allowance — you can check out this data map for more details.
Love it! 🙂
