Fuze iPad app puts multiplatform HD video chatting in its program

We’ve talked about the Fuze Meeting app before and it was a cool way to turn your iPad or other gadget into a nice collaborative meeting device. The company has kicked it up a notch by adding HD video conferencing which will work no matter which platform you’re on.

Let’s say you’re using the Fuze Meeting on Android with the Galaxy Tab. As the host, you can just use a few clicks to set up a multi-party video conference.

On the meeting screen, the video windows will pop up on the left side of the screen and the meeting materials will be in the center. The great thing about the Fuze Meeting app is that is will work on the Apple iPhone 4, Android, iPad, laptops and desktops with web cameras. The company says its H.264 codec enables it to deliver these video chats in 720p HD.

“Our strategy is based on two facts. First, the meeting room of the future will be a virtual one and something you can hold in your hands. Second, people will want more device choice, not less,” states Jeff Cavins, CEO of Fuze Box, in a prepared statement. “We are browser, platform, device and network agnostic and whatever mobile or desktop device someone is considering purchasing, we’ll already be there.”

As we’ve mentioned before, the Fuze Meeting app also includes support for VoIP and the iPad version can play HD content back if it’s part of the meeting material.

While business collaboration software generally isn’t in our wheelhouse, I’ve found the Fuze Meeting app to be quite a delight to use. The user interface is simple yet elegant and, most importantly, it does deliver on the whole “business collaboration” thing it promises to.

Check out the video below for an example of this meeting app in action.
