Traxx FM wants its slice of the mobile Internet radio market and they’re starting with the iOS app, allowing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad owners to join the “Traxxers family.” The new application comes with 20 music channels, featuring a variety reaching from Deluxe, Deep, House, Electro, Lounge, Cool Jam, Soul, Funk, R&B, Latino, Pop, Hits, Gold Hits, Ambient to Classic, Jazz, Dance, Minimal, Rock, Rap songs — all of which are hand-picked “by music lovers for music lovers.”
So what’s unique about Traxx FM that sets them apart from the likes of Pandora and Spotify. To be honestly, I’m not sure. I guess they’re hoping that the “less is more” approach could work for them. Instead of presenting users with a super-long list of available radio stations, Traxx has a short list of genres and does the mixing and song-picking in the background.
The application is available for free and there’s also the pay-for HD version which brings music in high definition, advertising and jingles free.
Finally, now that the iPhone application is launched, Traxx is working on the Android and Symbian versions…
