Radio Shack have been touting their holiday sales for a few weeks now. Every few days, I seem to get an email from a PR agency, alerting me to current deals, and upcoming deals. While I appreciate it, and give a firm *tip of the cap* to Radio Shack for putting together such an attractive deal… I’m becoming a bit skeptical.
You may recall my post about Radio Shack’s iPhone 4 offer, an offer that ends today. To sum up the deal, owners of iPhone 3GS or 3G devices could turn them in for a deep discount on a shiny new iPhone 4… In the end, folks could walk away with a new iPhone 4 for as low as $24.99. Sweetheart of a deal, right? It IS for sure, but there’s more to it than that.
Turns out that MANY of our intrepid readers right here at IntoMobile read the offer, and took it upon themselves to visit their local Radio Shack location. Upon arrival, many of them were upset to find that no more iPhone 4’s were in-stock. The deal was on, but there was no iPhone 4 love to hand out. From Florida to Nevada to Texas and beyond, I fielded comments and email from you, our beloved readers, letting me know just how very upset you are with Radio Shack’s lack of iPhone 4 inventory. I’m miffed too. Nothing like whipping the crowd up into a frenzy over a device, only to let them down with no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
I suppose the whole point of this post is to reach out to Radio Shack, to let them give us their side of the story. C’mon Radio Shack, lay it on us. How many iPhone 4’s did you have in-stock at retail locations anyway? 5? 25? 50? Did they sell out immediately once the deal was a go? Seriously, we want to know. This trade-in offer you had on the iPhone 4 was awesome to say the least, but I know our readers would have loved it if you had a massive inventory of the device to back up the offer and spread the iOS-powered goodness.
That’s all for now. Radio Shack, you can hit me up via email (james AT intomobile dot com) or find me on Twitter @JamesFalconer. Let’s do this.
