Although it sells a dedicated ebook reading device, Amazon also offers Kindle mobile apps for Android and iOS-powered devices. What about other platforms? I guess they’ll support webOS the minute HP launches some new device (a tablet perhaps?), but what’s happening with Symbian? There is a big army of users out there, readily waiting for the Kindle app. Heck one avid reader (@Smartfonefan) has even started an online petition to call on Amazon to create such mobile application.
I do understand that Symbian is far from being the darling of the media these days (unlike Android and iOS), but why abandon all those users? The way I see it, that doesn’t make much sense.
Hopefully, this petition will entice the online retail giant to do something about it. Now that I’m thinking – they should make sure their mobile apps work on all platforms, considering Amazon has customers all around the world… So dear Amazon – if you can’t do it yourself (developing for Symbian can be a pain), outsource the damn thing and give us the goods. 😉
If you own a Symbian smartphone, you can sign the petition from here.
