
TekTrak, the company behind the iPhone app/service combo we recently talked about, announced that it has closed a round of seed funding. The new money will be used to expand into other mobile platforms and add features to its existing iPhone application.
TekTrak offers mobile phone tracking service for just 5 bucks year, emphasizing that’s much cheaper than what Apple is asking with MobileMe. To be fair, MobileMe now comes free with the iPhone 4 and also includes some other services, but there’s still iPhone 3GS and an array of other GSP-enabled devices TekTrak will target with its future products.
Among investors, TekTrak managed to attract some pretty well-known names such as Cyan & Scott Banister (previously invested in Facebook, Zappos and PayPal), Kima Ventures (Xavier Niel and Jeremie Berrebi), Sergey Grishin (the owner of SG Companies & Chairman of RosEvRo Group), Wasabi Ventures (which has funded and advised Ustream), PBWorks, BCITL Ventures (Dovi Frances), Barney Pell (founder of Powerset) and Yoni Saban…
