The Verizon Wireless Palm Pre 2 has been spotted on eBay in a now-cancelled auction. The handset was confirmed by PreCentral to be an actual CDMA Pre 2 with model number, P102EWW. Advertised as being great “for parts”, the Pre 2 has a bad ESN (i.e., it cannot be activated by Verizon) and is missing the charger. The Pre 2 reached the lofty price of $46 before the auction was shut down. Ironically, this auction is one of our first looks at the CDMA variant of the Pre 2 as the handset has not yet landed on Verizon Wireless.
The Pre 2 is slowly turning into a major disappointment. The handset was announced in October and was slated to land on Verizon in the “coming months”. Rumors suggested a November 11th launch but that day passed without an official announcement from Big Red. Another rumor suggested a Q4 2010 launch, but that launch window is almost over and the Pre 2 still has yet to materialize. Palm and Verizon have been silent on the status of the Pre 2, which is making a bad situation even worse. With the promise of better hardware on the horizon, is there even a point in carrying the Palm Pre 2 now?
