The HootSuite Twitter/Facebook app for Android, iPhone, and BlackBerry have all been updated recently with a selection of new features. BlackBerry definitely got the most lovin’ this go-around, as now you can check in to Foursquare, Facebook Places, and take advantage of native Twitter location services using the app. Android got a few tweaks to search pages, user profiles, while the iPhone and both the others received a variety of new localizations.
HootSuite is a social networking app that started browser-based, primarily targeting social media professionals, and has since spread to mobile. They’ve got metrics, schedule tweeting, support for multiple people on single accounts, or single people managing multiple accounts, and a lot of more advanced functions that anyone in marketing, PR, or support would find really helpful. It’s not just Twitter that HootSuite manages, either – they’ve got hooks in Facebook, LinkedIn and a handful of other networks too.
Right now, I still use the official BlackBerry twitter app for its tight integration with the native address book and messages app, but RIM is taking such a long time with geotagging tweets that I might make the switch to HootSuite at least for a little while.
If you’re interested in giving it a shot, you can find HootSuite in the iTunes App Store below, or download the BlackBerry version by visiting hootsuite.com directly on your BlackBerry. Android users can find it in the Market.
