The HTC Desire HD is getting a software update but you shouldn’t get your hopes up, as the company said it is not the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update many of us hope for.
“To clarify, the Desire Z/Desire HD update is a maintenance build based on all your feedback. Gingerbread is not a part of this update,” HTC tweeted.
That’s a shame because the HTC Desire HD is one hell of a device and Android 2.3 Gingerbread would kick it up one more notch. While the main upgrades like NFC support may not be applicable, the software will bring a significant boost to the overall performance, as well as some slick user interface improvements.
There’s no word on how long it will take for the HTC Desire HD to get the full Gingerbread port but feel free to watch this walk-through video to whet your appetite.
